Water, an essential and threatened resource file
According to a bulletin from the Bureau of Geological and Mining Research on Friday, June 13, the French water tables are in a "satisfactory" state overall, but with "worrying" black spots.

As spring draws to a close, vigilance remains essential regarding water resources. "The overall state of the water tables is satisfactory in May: 35% of observation points are below monthly norms, 19% are comparable and 46% are above," notes the national geological service in its monthly bulletin of June 1. However, the situation has deteriorated compared to the previous month and was much more satisfactory a year ago: in May 2024, 70% of levels were above monthly norms.

At the beginning of 2025, the rains improved the situation locally in the Pyrénées-Orientales and Aude regions.
